“Waterlilies in the Crags” is a homage to the Impressionist Monet’s numerous paintings of waterlilies; my waterlily paintings are a fusion of elements of Impressionism and abstraction creating a new world of waterlilies. This is the 1st of a series of paintings of waterlilies. I am intrigued by these floating plants and the patterns and textures they create on the water surface.
“Waterlilies in the Crags” is a painting inspired by some photographs I took of a waterlily pond at a farmstall close to the coastal town of Plettenberg Bay, Western Cape.
