Waterlily pond at Phillipskop

Oil on canvas
910x1217mm
Unframed

A homage to Monet’s numerous paintings of waterlilies; a fusion of elements of impressionism and abstraction, creating a new world of waterlilies.

“Waterlily pond at Phillipskop” is the 4th of my waterlily series. I am intrigued by these floating plants and the patterns and the textures they create on the water surface, enhanced by the softness and beauty of the flowers.

The painting is based on a photograph of the waterlily pond at Phillipskop Mountain Reserve perched on the slopes of the Klein River Mountains in the Western Cape. See their website www.phillpskop.co.za for more details.

Thank you Dr Christopher Whitehouse for granting me permission to paint the waterlily pond using your reference.
