In the beginning . . .

765mm x 1015mm
Oil on canvas

“In the beginning the earth was formless. . . ” It is extremely difficult to contemplate the beginning of all things. My belief in a supremely creative God provides handles for me to give expression to a very difficult concept. There is a mystery to God (and that makes Him so exciting) just as there is a mystery to the beginning of all time as we understand it. “In the beginning . . .” is an exploration of this timeless concept – full of mystery, yet delightfully constructed. Every brushstroke and mark has been carefully considered either cerebrally or instinctively, yet the result is one of apparent arbitrariness. So too our approach to the beginning of all things is at times arbitrary – I would hope that this painting would help you think, again!
